While some people are not a fan of blanketing horses since they don’t wear blankets in the wild, those of us who show our horses often feel differently about it. There’s nothing worse than trying to dry off a horse with a heavy, wet winter coat after a long and intensive workout, therefore many riders who show or ride throughout the winter opt to blanket their horses to reduce their winter coats and make them a bit more presentable to judges in the show arena. So the question is, when does your horse need a blanket? I recently found an info-graphic from Auburn Agriculture that does a good job of helping you determine when it’s time to suit up your equine friends.
